I cherish the special moments in life and try to preserve them by telling my story through photography. Since I was a kid, I’ve been exposed to photography. My dad was the first person who taught me how to use a film SLR camera. The photos were great but as a kid, I did not appreciate the process of producing the images. I think I subconsciously said “I ain’t got time for that”.
When digital photography came into the picture, I was hooked. The idea of being able to instantly view the images I took and also to never worry about the number of film left was particularly interesting. At the age of 16, I received my first digital point-and-shoot camera and I became one of the school photographers. It was a lot of fun as I used that power to move around and get up close to take pictures when others had to stay in line. Haha, kidding.
It was not until my first year in college that I started using a DSLR, the Nikon D5000. I was so thrilled and started capturing anything that came to sight! After some time, I began to take photography seriously. I studied the theoretical knowledge, I studied light, and at the same time created the images that I enjoyed and connected with, constantly.
I enjoy the type of photography that is unique, honest, and natural. Which is why I resonate well with street and documentary photography which captures the real life beauty, emotions, and actions that happens around us.
