For health and safety reasons, it’s best to find out the right way to prepare before a nice swim.

If no one ever showered before entering the pool, imagine how much impurities you’ll be exposed to (by this, we mean traces of deodorant, perfume, oils and even of urine and faecal matter!). Chlorine alone may not be enough to deal with high levels of impurities. This situation can cause bad odour that makes it very uncomfortable to be in the pool. So shower up!
Protect Your Skin
To keep pools clean and sanitary, swimming facilities will use a concoction of chemicals like chlorine and bromine which can irritate and be bad for skin. Apply some moisturiser or lotion to protect your skin and leave it in. Also, take a cold shower before getting into the pool to reduce chlorine absorption. If you’re outdoors, remember to apply waterproof sunblock.
Warm Up Right
Avoid cramps and nasty strains by giving your body the chance to warm up before engaging in some underwater freestyling. Opt for dynamic warm ups instead of static stretches which will improve your mobility instead of the latter that can have a negative impact on your muscles pre-swim. You can alternate between a light swim and warm-up exercises to get your body prepped.
