"1. Pricing is reasonable. 2. Fitness instructor who attended to me on my first trial session (Ferdy) is professional and approachable. 3. I felt at ease talking to the fitness instructor and completing the first trial session. 4. And I eventually signed up for a 12 months fitness package with them!"

"Both my husband and I used to train with Stephanie years ago before moving to Australia and we really loved her training. She's very professional and knowledgable in her field and she also gave us good nutritional guidelines to follow. As both my husband and I have different goals, she managed to help both of us achieve our fitness goals. I've lost 10kgs of fat and my husband managed to gain 5kg of lean mass! We're really happy to be training with her again as she is very fun to train with.

"I have struggled with my weight for years now , i didnt know how to eat properly as well as exercising to lose weight . Thankfully i met Faye , who teaches me how to eat correctly the healthy way . She's very knowledgable in her field and also provides very effective training techinques that has helped me to lose a great amount of weight . Every training session , i would not know what to expect because she's always giving me new , fun and safe exercises to do . Which is super motivating. She make sure that im exercising with correct form so that i dont injure myself And She dosent force me to do something that i cant as i have knee problems too Really love my experience with her I highly recommend this Trainer to anyone who is serious about looking to lose weight :)"

"Wai Kin is professional, polite and he came well prepared for the work out. (previously i shared with him my goals :) Even though sometimes i felt like giving up during the training, but Wai Kin kept encouraging and motivating me.. With his background as a Wushu National Athlete, i seen determination and perseverance in him. Highly recommended."

Which personal trainer suits me best?

Personal trainers often come at different experience levels & credentials. What's important isn't just the number of years of experience or certifications the personal trainer has, but how well suited he or she is to your specific needs. Here are a few things to look out for to find a great fit.

Certification & Experience

  • Although certification isn't everything, it tells you the personal trainer has taken formal training
  • Look out for major certifications which include ACE (American Council on Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) & NCSA (National Strength and Conditioning Association)
  • Don't just look for number of years of experience. What kind of experience is important too - has the personal trainer worked with someone of your age group, your health status or fitness interests?

Specialisation

  • If you have specific goals in mind (doing a handstand with 2 fingers), you might want a personal trainer who can lead the way
  • Specific credentials like CrossFit level 1, TRX, Pilates or YogaFit are things you could look out for
  • If you're looking to improve your general health & fitness levels, then an all-rounder may be the right personal trainer for you

The Fine Print

  • A great personal trainer is worth his or her weight in gold. But sometimes its also a question of how much gold you have to spend
  • Do comparison shopping by getting a few quotes & average prices. Most personal trainers have hourly rates but find out if they have package pricing too
  • Get into specifics of the figures. What happens if you cancel? What happens if they cancel? How would you be charged if a session starts late, or extends beyond the agreed time?

Personality & Character

  • A great personal trainer can truly make a difference between success or failure at the gym. So you want the right partner who's invested in you & whom you can work with
  • Look out for character traits - is he or her a cheerleader or a drill sergeant? Either is fine, as long as you think the personal trainer is providing you the support you need
  • Look for a personality fit. You don't have to be like them, but you should like them. You'll be spending a fair amount of time with them after all

Types of Training

  • Zumba classes
  • Personal trainers
  • Yoga lessons and instructors
