What your aircond is telling you!

The signs are clear but don’t know what it means? These will help you understand why your aircond is suddenly acting a certain way and why it’s not performing up to your expectations.

Strange noises and smell

Has your aircond been making a lot of noises lately? From buzzing, banging to screeching sounds to name a few. Your aircond fan may not be working properly or there are loose parts inside the aircond unit which mainly contributes to these irritating noises! But it doesn’t stop there, sometimes your aircond gives off foul odours too. A burning smell indicates that there’s a burnt wire insulation while a musty smell would mean that there’s a mould growth inside your ductwork. Both noise and smell coming from your aircond should be taken seriously and getting a professional’s help is preferred.

Leaking, producing excess moisture

A small amount of water drip or condensation coming from your compressor outside your home is perfectly normal. However, if the water leakage is coming from the aircond unit inside the house then you might need to get it fixed immediately! This may be caused by a clogged drain tube but have it inspected by a professional aircond expert just to be safe.

Blowing hot or cold air inconsistent with its setting

If your aircond is suddenly blowing hot or cold air which is inconsistent with its temperature settings, then it’s time to get it checked by a professional. It may indicate a damaged compressor or maybe a low refrigerant level. Have them check the filters, valves, as well as the condensation drains should there be any airflow obstructions.

Limited airflow

If you feel like your aircond does not circulate around your house efficiently, it may be caused by a clogged filter or blocked ductwork. The dirt and the dust accumulated inside the vent is one of the most common causes of the ductwork obstruction. It’s always a good idea to have it checked by a trained aircond expert so they can diagnose the problem accurately and save your wallet before any further damage could occur!
