Wedding bells white gowns, and toasts – you’ve been through all that and now it’s time just for the both of you. Here’s a list of some of the most romantic places you can spend your honeymoon at:
1. Fortune Island, Philippines
Doesn’t this place just reminds you of Greece? Fortune Island is a resort island with Grecian ‘ruins’ modelled after the acropolis of the Mediterranean country. The island is also home to an ancient shipwreck, which you can learn more about through their museum.
2. Hoi An, Vietnam
Hoi An is probably the most charming little historic town in Southeast Asia. The ancient town used to be an international trading port back in the 15th century, and you can see the mix of culture reflected on the old town’s unique architecture style. Do check out the local cuisine at Morning Glory restaurant when you’re there!
3. Ubud, Indonesia
Ubud is more than a place to just Eat, Pray, Love. This new favourite destination in Bali is quieter than Kuta, but has private villas that are more affordable than those in Seminyak. You can enjoy some lovely alone time amidst the beautiful rice fields, and even go for a ride on the famous Ubud jungle swing.
4. Koh Rong, Cambodia
Yes, this is Cambodia. The country has more than just the majestic Angkor Wat temple and ruins – it’s home to one of the world’s most beautiful islands. Koh Rong is located off the beach town, Sihanoukville, but you can get there easily via a ferry. It’s almost impossible to find another island that has clearer waters than Koh Rong’s.
5. Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Kanchanaburi is known for its quaint floating villas on the River Kwai. Each of these floating houses has a private sun deck, where couples can watch the sunrise and sunset at. You can enjoy the utmost privacy here as the villas can only be reached via the hotel’s private boat service.
6. Luang Prabang, Laos
This popular Laotian town is a haven for nature-loving couples. There are two beautiful waterfalls you can trek to, both of which are just an hour’s tuk tuk ride away from the town. Luang Prabang town is also known for its quaint and historic character, with lots of French colonial cafés and eateries you can try.
7. Mount Popa, Myanmar
The popular Buddhist pilgrimage site now also has a resort attached to it. This resort is located more than 1,000m above sea level, so you can enjoy crisp cool air along with the most amazing view of the ancient city of Bagan. You can also enjoy the lush green garden setting from your room if you’re not in the mood to go exploring.
