We get it. It’s not that you don’t want to relax and spend time preparing the house for Raya – it’s just that you really don’t have time to clean up. Now that Raya is almost here, we’ve got some quick cleaning tips that won’t wear you out, we promise!
1. Clean wall drawings with baking soda
Can’t get those doodles off your walls? A new paint job is not required – just clean it using a damp sponge with baking soda. The doodles will be gone in no time.
2. Go around the stove
Soak the parts in soapy water, then start cleaning the stove clockwise starting from the right. This will reduce chances of the dirt and grease spreading around the area.
3. Start from top to bottom
All you need to clean the bedrooms are a dusting spray and a microfibre cloth. That’s really all you need. To make things easier, start cleaning from the top. This is so that you won’t have to clean the floor again when dirt falls from the top shelves or ceiling fan.
4. Dish detergent for outdoor furniture
Do some chairs in the balcony require scrubbing? Mix some dish detergent in a bowl of warm water and start cleaning. This should remove the grime easily.
5. Put some mineral oil in the sink
The first thing you need to do is to sanitise the sink. This can be done by spraying a mist of vinegar on it after cleaning, followed by some hydrogen peroxide. After it’s dry, make it shine using a cloth with a few drops of mineral oil.
6. Hot water does the trick
No detergent needed, just good ole’ hot water will do. With just a sponge dipped in hot water, you can remove so much dirt from the kitchen cabinets, wooden furniture, counter tops, and even tiled walls!
7. Clean the microwave with lemon
Chop up a lemon and put the bits into a bowl of water. Heat that bowl of water with lemon till the window looks steamy. Leave it there for 15 minutes, then you’ll be amazed by how easy it is to remove grime from the microwave’s interior.
8. Use lemon oil to polish glass
A teaspoon of lemon oil can prevent your glass windows or doors from having water stains. Any moisture on it will form into a bead and roll away, leaving you with perfectly pristine glass windows and doors.
