Moving day is coming soon!
You’ve done the smart thing, which was to hire professional movers to help you, and you can’t wait to finally settle down in your new crib with all your belongings. However, this doesn’t mean you can leave all the work to the movers to do.
You gotta help too!
Here are some things you can help with that’ll ultimately make your life easier:
1. Pack According To Rooms
What this means is that you pack all the things that you intend to put in the same room together. You should also label them according to the rooms they belong to – kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. The movers will then know which rooms to place the boxes in without having to trouble you.
It also makes it easier for you to unpack. With all the items placed in the rooms where they need to be, your work is already half done. Now you just need to take them out and place them wherever you want.
2. Wrap Fragile Items With Clothes

Bubble wraps are expensive and never enough. Use your clothes: they act as padding, just like how bubble wraps function. We know your movers are professional and careful, but it’s always better to take precautions. Things are bound to move around in the truck when they’re being moved from one place to another.
Plus, you’ll be moving your clothes too – so that’s killing two birds with one stone!
3. Pack Stuff Into Your Luggage Bags

Luggage bags are for storing things too, so make use of them! Instead of moving empty luggage bags from your old place to the new one, you can cut down on boxes and use them to store stuff too. The same goes to baskets, pails, and buckets.
4. Clean Up Your New Crib First
No one wants to move into a dusty or dirty place, so clean up your new place before moving day. You’ll be super busy with all the moving and unpacking on D-day, it’s best to clean your new place up first so you have one thing less to worry about. Hire professional cleaners to give your new place a thorough cleanse.
5. Empty The Bin

Don’t leave any rubbish in the bins when you’re moving. Garbage sticks and they’re unhygienic, so of course you won’t be moving the rubbish bin to your new place along with it. Since that’s the case, you better empty the bins before the movers come or else you’ll be too busy to do it!
6. Double & Triple Check Your Home

It doesn’t hurt to do a final check around the house before the movers drop by. Make sure everything that needs to be moved is already packed. You should also make an inventory of the things that should be moved, categorised according to the rooms they’re supposed to be in. Check every drawer and cupboard to make sure you left nothing behind.
Be sure to get all these done before the movers drop by. It’s always good to have everything prepared, so you can concentrate on helping the movers with the moving on the big day.
